SURF CITY - The North Carolina Department of Transportation Bridge Maintenance Unit plans to intermittently close a single lane on the Surf City Swing Bridge in order for Inspection Crews to perform scheduled Bridge Inspections. Beginning on April 21 through April 24, from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm daily crews will restrict traffic to a single alternating lane.
There’s no hiding the fact that there’s a new guy in town, and his name is (ironically) “Hyde.” And for once we naively thought that there would be no agonizing over a name: he was rescued in Hyde County. But (there’s always a but) after reviewing the index of the almost four-hundred patients who have come through our doors we had to amend his official moniker to “Hyde II.”

HAMPSTEAD - On Monday, April 14 at approximately 10:49 p.m. a Pender deputy assigned to the (TAD) unit responded to a suspicious vehicle call on Hillview Dr. in Hampstead. The TAD unit is a unit within the Pender Patrol Division that is assigned to focus on high crime areas and to enforce traffic laws on roadways within the county where we receive safety concerns from the public.
HAMPSTEAD - A Hampstead man was shot and killed Sunday night after allegedly pointing a gun at a NC State Trooper.
PENDER COUNTY - On Thursday morning, April 10, Charles Tomlinson, a Jail Officer with the Pender County Jail, was arrested by Wilmington Police Department for driving while impaired, carrying a concealed weapon, reckless driving to endanger, and leaving the scene of an accident. After a short internal investigation, Mr. Tomlinson’s employment with Pender County was terminated on Thursday evening.
